A 100W incandescent bulb consumes 100W x 10000 hours = 1000 Kwh electricity

A 20W energy saving lamps consume 20W x 10000 hours = 200 Kwh electricity

If your local electricity supplier charge you for example as low as US 10 cents per 1 Kwh you pay US 100 dollars for one incandescent bulb hence for energy saving lamp will cost you only US20 dollars saving you 80 dollars.  If you use 20 incandescent bulb and replace with energy lamp will save you USD1,600 dollars for energy cost.  That’s not all, don’t forget about replacement and other troublesome maintenance cost.

Savings become substantially appreciable where cost of electrical energy is higher and obviously to install and replace 1 (one) energy saver is easier than 10 incandescent bulb.  Imagine some theatre, hall room, shopping arcade, office, warehouse, walkways or simply residential home has many lamps to install, replace and their cost of maintaining for the same period of time.
